After spending a year at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Sculpture and Fiber and Material Studies, Nancy VanDevender completed the MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2007. Her work has been exhibited at the Anton Art Center in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Society for Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, Annex Art Center in Toronto, and Daimler Chrysler in Berlin. In 2008 she installed Pink, beyond black and white, a solo exhibition at Emory University, and was included in MOCA GA’s Rising Movers and Shakers, ARThouse09, Paper Runway at Atlanta International Airport, and Catherine Fox’s proposal for One Museum Place featured in the Atlanta Journal Constitution Art at Work: Art and Architecture. She is creator of Black Market Projects and the WPA…we provide art, limited edition events that focus on the power of intimacy to instigate change. VanDevender teaches at Clark Atlanta University.
