Looking for gift ideas? SHOP at ACAC
Our SHOP is a little gem of a space where we sell a range of publications and cultural collectibles by our exhibiting artists, guest speakers, and Atlanta-based talent. Everything we sell is either locally produced or related to our programming. Plus, our members get discounts on their SHOP purchases! (and Membership makes a great gift too!)
Program-related items include our own books and catalogues, such as The Art Life: On Creativity and Career, Substitute Teacher, and Jack Whitten: Memorial Paintings; The Artist’s Guide by Jackie Battenfield; The Oath and other DVDs by Laura Poitras; Artadia’s 5 Cities/41 Artists, Atlanta Art Now’s Noplaceness: Art in a Post-Urban Landscape and much more. We’ve also got multiples by Larry Jens Anderson and Joe Peragine; jewelry by Heidi Aishman Designs; media from Dust-to-Digital, J&L Books, and Nexus Press; the latest issues of Art Papers magazine; water-ground grits and locally harvested honey from the Hambidge Center; and hand-printed note cards, gift tags, and coasters from the Atlanta Printmakers Studio. New – our own, limited edition mug designed by Ashley Anderson!
The Art Life: On Creativity and Career
Our new book, The Art Life: On Creativity and Career by Stuart Horodner, brings together words of wisdom about the philosophical and practical issues that affect art-making and the marketplace. Many of the contributors have taken part in exhibitions and programs at ACAC from 2007 to 2011. Get more info and purchase it online HERE.
Nexus Press
Although it ceased operations in 2003, Nexus Press continues to hold a place in the hearts of lovers of artists’ books. During its operating period, Nexus produced approximately 150 titles by artists and bookmakers. Nexus Press books have been distributed to collectors, museums, and libraries locally, nationally, and internationally, and are represented in major collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Harvard Art Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, as well as many university libraries including Agnes Scott College, Emory University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and University of California, Los Angeles. A small selection of Nexus Press books are available in our on-site SHOP, and are also available for online purchase HERE.
