Internships
An internship is a work situation that is designed
to give students and graduates the opportunity
to gain experience in their chosen field of
work. Internships offer the chance to gain or
refine skills not ordinarily taught in the classroom,
as well as providing a service to the organization.
Ideally, the experience for the intern is a
balanced "service learning" experience.
An internship at the Contemporary signals a
serious commitment to contemporary arts on your
resume, and can provide you with the contacts
and knowledge needed to find employment in the
arts.
We offer internships in several areas:
Gallery
Education and Outreach
Publicity and Marketing
Arts Administration
Special Events and Fundraising
All interns must be well organized, enthusiastic,
and able to work on a high volume of projects
simultaneously with minimum supervision. Creativity,
resourcefulness, excellent writing skills and
computer proficiency are a necessity. We are
looking for people with a can do
attitude and the ability to thrive as part of
a team.
Internships are unpaid. You may receive academic
credit if arrangements are made in advance.
Interns need to make a commitment of 15
35 hours per week for a period of three months
(or longer). The more time an intern can offer,
the richer their experience as an intern will
be.
