NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR INTERN AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center is currently accepting applications for the Intern and Volunteer Program. This program is designed to give students, graduates, and other interested individuals the opportunity to gain experience in the arena of a non-profit art organization. The program offers the chance to increase or refine skills not ordinarily taught in the classroom, as well as providing a service to the institution and the community it serves. An internship at The Contemporary signals a serious commitment to contemporary art on one’s résumé, and helps provide individuals with the contacts, experiences, and knowledge needed to advance a career in the arts.

The Intern and Volunteer Program functions within several areas of interest:
• Gallery and Exhibitions
• Education and Outreach
• Publicity and Marketing
• Arts Administration
• Special Events and Fundraising

All interns and volunteers must be well-organized, enthusiastic, and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously with minimum supervision. Creativity, resourcefulness, excellent writing skills, and computer proficiency are necessary for a successful internship. We are looking for people with a “can do” attitude and the ability to thrive as part of a team.

Internships and volunteer positions are unpaid. Individuals may receive academic credit if the program is offered through their school and if arrangements are made in advance. Interns and volunteers need to make a commitment of 10 – 20 hours per week for a period of three months (or longer). The more time an individual can offer, the richer the experience will be.

The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center's mission is to promote excellence, experimentation, and education in all forms of contemporary art. The Contemporary provides access to resources and support for emerging and established artists on local, regional, national, and international levels and creates opportunities for them to share their work with the public. In all aspects of its programming, the Contemporary is committed to gender equality and cultural diversity. By developing, educating, and cultivating energetic audiences of knowledgeable supporters, The Contemporary serves as a major multidisciplinary arts center in the Southeast. We encourage all prospective applicants to the Intern and Volunteer Program to visit the Contemporary and its website, if they haven’t done so already, to become familiar with its programming and principles.

To apply, please submit the following:
• Letter of intent including your main area of interest and time frame you are interested in
• Résumé or C.V.
• Contact info for two references (at least one should be academic)

It is preferred that documents be e-mailed to Stacie Lindner at slindner@thecontemporary.org.
