15 Minutes

I've been thinking about Andy Warhol a lot these days.

Maybe it's the Takashi Murakami exhibition at LAMOCA (Oct 29, 2007- Feb 11, 2008) which showcases the artist's work in painting, sculpture, installation, and film, as well as performing his duties as chairman of the board of a global creative corporate self.

Maybe it's the non stop reality television programming that propels chefs, fashion designers, and performers to public awareness. I must admit to tremendous guilt-free pleasure in watching Iron Chef and Project Runway, as the weekly projects and judging sessions remind me of the drama of art school while providing a few helpful hints about braising meats and deconstructed jackets.

Maybe it's the connection between Andy's statement that, "Good business is the best art," and the fact that
Damien Hirst's self-financed sculpture "For the Love of God," a life-size cast of a human skull in platinum, covered by 8,601 pave-set diamonds and costing an estimated
$10-15 million to produce, just sold to an unnamed investment group for $100 million and will go on tour soon.

Maybe it's the connection between Socrates's statement that, "The unexamined life is not worth living," and this You Tube clip:
